Explore some of our diverse completed projects that exemplify our expertise in yacht design, naval architecture and marine engineering
SUPERYACHT HULL DESIGN
Engaged by the shipyard to develop a superdisplacement hull for a 56m yacht.
The task also consisted in determining the yacht's preliminary lightweight and mass distribution.
Leaning on our expertise and with use of CFD we developed a fine hullform and reached a solid trade-off between volumes distributions and total resistance.
30 m FISHING SHIP PERFORMANE OPTIMIZATION
For this project, the client approached us to perform a hydrodynamic optimization of their existing fishing vessel.
The task involved researching design improvements and conducting a series of CFD simulations to determine the optimal solution.
The vessel’s hull was 3D scanned and meshed to ensure high-fidelity analysis. By implementing a redesigned bulbous bow, the optimized configuration achieved a 17% reduction in total drag at the vessel’s operational speed.
SUPERYACHT HULLFORM
Engaged by AITAC to develop a superdisplacement hullform for a 56m concept yacht.
The task also consisted in determining the yacht's preliminary lightweight and mass distribution.
Leaning on our expertise and with use of CFD we developed a fine hullform and reached a solid trade-off between volumes distributions and total resistance.
SAILING SHIP RIG AND SAILPAN DESIGN
In collaboration with AITAC we were engaged as consultants for rig and sail plan redesign on the Croatian training ship "Kraljica mora"
The task was to make her handling under the sails simpler and easier for students. The whole rig was developed using FEM analysis for more accurate loads estimation.
Our team also helped in creating all the classification and workshop documentation including bill of materials and works.
GRIFFON 26
This Concept Sport Fisherman was designed as part of an extensive hydrodynamic research on performance of high speed crafts, done in collaboration with Marine department at Technical University of Rijeka.
Through this research we gained a significant knowledge on design approach and problematics of high speed crafts from hydrodynamics aspect.
B-ONE
This 10 m performance sailing yacht was designed in 2018 for a client seeking the ideal balance between comfortable summer cruising and competitive winter racing on the local regatta circuit.
One notable feature is the spacious toilet compartment, nearly twice the size of what is typically found on yachts of this length — a detail that has since become a new standard in modern yacht design. This innovation reflects our forward-thinking and user-focused approach to design.
Unfortunately, the project was discontinued during the early stages of construction due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT
As part of our marine engineering services, we collaborate with ALMI and RINAVAL on the development, classification, and installation documentation for sewage water treatment plant retrofits on passenger ships and yachts. All projects are carried out in full compliance with classification society requirements and current environmental regulations.
To date, we have successfully delivered over 20 approved and installed projects, ensuring reliable operation and regulatory conformity across diverse vessel types.
RACEBOAT RATING OPTIMIZATION
This project consisted in developing a new rig and keel design for a 42 IRC/ORC racer. The rating analysis was conducted in collaboration with Marine department at Technical University of Rijeka.
We did the final design and developed of all the technical drawings for the new rig and keel and provided Project management services during the refit.
POWERCAT PERFORMANCE OPTIOMIZATION
The project consisted of optimizing a fast power catamaran and estimating the best type of engine drive type in way to enhance power to speed performance.
thorough CFD analysis was conducted for different power output options. Suggested final option was applied with success proving also high accuracy of CFD results.
Beside visible increase in performance the consumption per nautical mile was reduced by 22%.
40ft HPR
Preliminary design of this revolutionary 40ft High Performance Sailing Yacht was done in 2014 as a part of a pitch for sponsored sailing project.
During development that consisted in analysing the optimal layout and sail plan in way to make her competitive both inshore and offshore a wide database was created to study all the parameters with extensive use of CFD and VPP.
CLASS 40 KEEL
Engaged by the clients to coordinated the building of the keel bulb for a Humphreys designed Class 40 - No.125.
The task was to develop the casting pattern and manage the team to do it in a short time but keeping the high precision of a delivered product.
The bulb was casted in one shot in extra size with 1,5% antimonial lead and then CNC milled to a precise shape.
FLYMAR 1080
As one of our first commercial design projects, this 10,80m workboat was developed for in-house production.
The boat was usually powered with twin engines delivering 400 HP to a cruising speed of 14 knots fully loaded with several models powered with up to 600HP and top speed exceeding 35 knots.
Over 25 units were build in our workshop between 1998 and 2006 making it one of the most preferred fishing boats among local fishermen.
At FLYMAR, we take pride in our portfolio that spans various sectors of naval architecture, from luxury yachts and commercial vessels to sailing yachts and workboats. Our projects are a testament to our commitment to quality and innovation. All these projects reflect our dedication and ability to tailor our services to meet the unique needs of each client.
